Anastasiya, Moscow (Russian Federation)
Tattoo 1.) What means this tattoo to you?
It's Eric's autograph. And meeting with him will be my best memory forever. Highlight of all my life. I'm happy and proud to wear Eric's sign on my hand.

2.) When was it made?
13.08.2009, after Moscow Manowar show.

3.) Are you still happy with it?
Yes, of course!

4.) What are the reactions of people surrounding you?
Generally they don't understand it and try to impose their opinion... But I don't care about it and don't show my tattoo. Few people know that I have it.

5.) Why this motive? Where did this idea come from?
It was spontaneous decision. I just wanted to keep his sign for myself...

Pavlos, Athens (Hellas)
Tattoo 1.) What means this tattoo to you?
Well since I chose to have this on my body for the rest of my life i guess it means a lot...it better should cause removal's a bitch...nah just kidding.

This is obviously a more 3D and 'alive' representation of the Sign Of The Hammer. Since i bought and first listened to this superb album 10 years ago, i always knew that if I ever were going to have a tattoo on me, it would be the Sign Of The Hammer. This is a unique symbol that for me best represents power, in a way both graceful and raw at the same time.

2.) When was it made?
The tattoo was made on Wednesday 11.11.2009.

3.) Are you still happy with it?
Kinda early to tell. At the moment I am really excited. But I shall get back at you some years from now, even though I am sure I will be as excited as I am now.

4.) What are the reactions of people surrounding you?
Well this tattoo (not this particular of course..) was the prize of a beer drinking contest, so my parents are twice as happy as they would be normally! Of course kidding ha-ha i'm a funny guy can't help it. My friends seem to like a lot the tattoo. Those who knew that it would be The Sign of the Hammer say that they expected it not to seem so ‘real’, so I guess that’s a good thing. My girlfriend also likes it, but not the body-spot i've chosen (she would prefer the inside of the arm). For the reaction of strangers I shall wait till summertime cause the tattoo is on my back/shoulder.

5.) Why this motive? Where did this idea come from?
Well as I said before I always knew it would be the Sign Of The Hammer if there was gonna be a tattoo on my body. I've chosen a three dimension representation of it, cause i didn't want my tattoo to look like a flat stamp, like i am stamped as cattle or something, i wanted it more alive, more artistic, and of course unique.

Sylvia, Montabaur (Germany)
Tattoo 1.) What means this tattoo to you?
I want to express my solidarity to Manowar with this tattoo because their songs has given me strength in hard times and they also give me strength today.

2.) When was it made?
The tattoo was made on the 27.02.2008.

3.) Are you still happy with it?
Yes, I'm still happy with it. But I will expand it in the future.

4.) What are the reactions of people surrounding you?
The people around me are in two minds about it, but that doesn't really bother me, because the people don't have to look if the don't like it.

5.) Why this motive? Where did this idea come from?
Like answered in question 1 this tattoo stands for my fellowship to Manowar. It should also express that I will stand my ground and will fight, come hell or high water.

Lysimahos, Thessaloniki (Hellas)
Tattoo 1.) What means this tattoo to you?
The Sign Of The Hammer itself means a lot of things for the common mind . First of all it was the first tool man made ( INTELLIGENCE ) to protect himself ( PROTECTION ) and to hunt ( SURVIVAL ). It can be used for both good purpose and for bullshiting (ie murder) so it' s up to one's character to make the choise ( WISDOM ) . Moreover , for me it is the SIGN OF A TRUE WARRIOR, as I proved to be in my fight against an almost lethal drug addiction!

2.) When was it made?
My tattoo is 2 weeks old (so question No4 is still yet to be answered)

3.) Are you still happy with it?
I AM EXCITED WITH IT ( I was longing for it quite a lot of time but I had to earn it first , then have it)

4.) What are the reactions of people surrounding you?
All I can tell you is that my wife paid for it (in my birthday) so you can guess she loves it! My parents on the other hand didn't like it but don't blame them , THEY DON'T UNDERSTAND IT.

5.) Why this motive? Where did this idea come from?
Well , It is one of my favourite albums and song , but the main reason is its simplicity which is SO STRONG , SO RAW that can tell more in one's heart than a million colours! I cannot really describe what I mean , it is the feeling of looking at it.

Andre, Ennepetal (Germany)

Of course. It just looks awesome and the tattooer has done a good work in the 40 hours.

4.) What are the reactions of people surrounding you?
It varies. Some don't like it because it's colored. But most people think it's great. And the people who don't like it have just bad luck. I have made this tatoo for me and not for anybody else.

5.) Why this motive? Where did this idea come from?
Manowar are the Kings of Metal and one of my favourite bands. And I took the cover because it looks awesome.

When I saw the album cover it just blew me away, it symbolized victory and power in no way I have ever seen it.

Klaus, Schrozberg (Germany)
Tattoo 1.) What means this tattoo to you?

Hail and Kill

I'm really satisfied with it, the tattooer has made a good job!

4.) What are the reactions of people surrounding you?
Some say it looks good, others just say "are you crazy to have a tattoo of a band name, what if the band doesn't exist anymore or you don't like it in the future?"
I only say "I listen always to metal and if Manowar doesn't exist anymore it shall be a a memory to one of the greatest heavy metal bands in the world!!!!!"

5.) Why this motive? Where did this idea come from?
I always wanted a tattoo and it should be something that no one else has, so I came to the runes.
The idea came from the booklet from GODS OF WAR

Kerstin, St. Marein (Austria)
Tattoo 1.) What means this tattoo to you?
I had this wish for a long time. But somehow I came away from it and so my first tattoo was from the wrestlers The Hardy Boys their sign. But now finally I did it and I'm very proud to finally have the logo of the band on me. Others will follow, that's for sure! :D

2.) When was it made?
It is not a long time ago. It was exactly on the 6th December 2008 so it's pretty fresh. Unfortunately I feel this. It itches like hell but I don't care!!!

3.) Are you still happy with it?
Sure and I ever will be!

4.) What are the reactions of people surrounding you?
They like it and they say always that they would not have the courage to this. According to them tattooing hurts like hell. Well, whatever they think. But beside of that they like it! A friend of mine has spoken to me radiant with joy and has congratulated me!

5.) Why this motive? Where did this idea come from?
The letters "Manowar" already say everthing. Und beside of that I wanted for the beginning only writing. Motives like the hammer, the sword, the ring or their mascot (the hulk with the sword) will follow later!

Claudia, Bannwil (Switzerland)
Tattoo 1.) What means this tattoo to you?
This tattoo means a lot to me. It's a tribute to the Kings Of My Hearts. It was the first tattoo that I had and it had to be a Manowar cover.:-) There was a bad time in my life and also in this time the music of Manowar gave me strength so I want to thank them for their music. I adore this band for 10 years and it will never end!

2.) When was it made?
It was made on the 17th Januaray 2003. I can clearly remember that day because I was very nervous because it was my first tatoo.

3.) Are you still happy with it?
Of course I'm still happy with it, otherwise I wouldn't have it made. I'm proud that I have this tatooo and I like to show it.

4.) What are the reactions of people surrounding you?
Other people mostly react positive to it. My friends like it and I hear often how beautiful my tattoo still is because I take care of it. Only my boss is not very enthusiastic with my Manowar Tatoo. She says it is to agressive for a woman, but I don't care, I'm proud of my tattoo.:-D When I'm out on town there are every now and then people that shake their heads and can't understand how someone can get a tatoo like that. A lot people are shocked too. I don't care a copper, this is my attitude to life and so my Manowar tatoo is a part of it.

5.) Why this motive? Where did this idea come from?
Kings of Metal was my first CD, that I listened from Manowar and then also bought it. The cover has always fascinated me. I bought then more Manowar CDs, but the decision that I want this cover as a tatoo was clear for me from the beginning and I made this a few years later!

This is the moment when i'm really happy....when i go for any metal event where people are coming to me to tell me that yes...i am a true metal fan...a shirt,a hair cut,who knows what other outfits you wear doesn't mean you are a real fan...i guess when you live with all your thoughts together with your idols then you became a real fan...and when the people around you are giving you they're salut...then you feel whom you really are...

1.) What means this tattoo to you?
It’s my personal salute to MANOWAR

2.) When was it made?
On the 16th of January 2008 in the Checker Demon Tattoos, Stuttgart

3.) Are you still happy with it?
YES!!!! I love it more and more with each day I have it.

4.) What are the reactions of people surrounding you?
Most people who saw it said: Great.
But some people think it’s too big (I guess – if I see the look in their eyes)

5.) Why this motive? Where did this idea come from?
I wanted a tattoo since I was sixteen.
But up to now I could not find the right motive, the right part of my body...
Then, suddenly I had the picture of chains, broken by sword in my head.
And I knew: That’s it.!!! And there was no question of the part of the body any more...

I went to the Checker Demon Tattoos studio and told them about the pic in my head (and I told them that I want to have a sword similar to the sword of the Kings of Metal album). I also told them about the message of it: "Break the chains of the public opinion or in other words:

... LIVE BY YOUR HEART... SAY WHAT YOU feel

As I saw the layout at the 16th of January I was blown and felt very happy, that they did realize in my idea so well!

It is simple and it looks good! The hammer is the international "trademark" of manowar and manowarriors!

I am Manowar fan since the first hour, and I want to express that with the tattoo.

2.) When was it made?
17th July 2007 in Wirges/Westerwald, Studio Pro Pain the first one

The addition (the sword of odin) on the 3th October 2007 also in Wirges

5.) Why this motive? Where did this idea come from?
I wanted a tattoo of Manowar for a very long time.

After I saw the cover from Gods of War I knew that this is the motive I was looking for all the time.

The sword of Odin should explain itselfs.

And Manowar and the hammer shall be a sign for my loyalty to the band.

Udo, Stuttgart (Germany)
Tattoo 1.) What means this tattoo to you?
That's the symbols of Manowar, the best band in the world, and this band helped me to never give up, come hell or high water. Where one street ends, a new one begins or put another way: the end is only the beginning. "If you want to win the fight, say I believe!"

2.) When was it made?
14th December 1994 from Luke Atkinson, Checker Demon, in Stuttgart.

3.) Are you still happy with it?
After almost 13 years it is as great as on the first day. The picture is not even a year old. Really good work and still good lines and colours.

4.) What are the reactions of people surrounding you?
In Manowar circles I only got really good resonances. The poor world without Manowar thinks that it is well done!

5.) Why this motive? Where did this idea come from?
The symbols come from the Kings Of Metal LP and were put together by myself. Manowar is in my opinion the embodiment of positive thinking and the LP is one of the best ever.

Marita "footstep", Uelzen (Germany)
Tattoo 1.) What means this tattoo to you?
This tattoo means a lot to me. I listen to Manowar since 25 years. This means that this band has escorted me a quarter century , through good and bad times, but mostly trough the bad ones, and have given me the strength to get through these times. And by way of thanks for that I have Manowar tattooed on my back. To show the guys: Hey, you are a part of me and my life. It would be the best if I could show this to the band and thank them, but unfortunately this did not happen so far, and so I haven chosen this way.

2.) When was it made?
Please don't be suprised but it was made in May/June 2007 (notation: picture was added on the 1st July 2007)

3.) Are you still happy with it?
Very, otherwise I wouldn't have it tattooed.

4.) What are the reactions of people surrounding you?
Everyone that have seen the tattoo so far think that this is great.

5.) Why this motive? Where did this idea come from?
I had the idea of Manowar on my back tattooed for a long while.
But I haven't found the right motive for a long time, and only the Manowar writing seemed boring to me. But then I saw the cover of "The Sons Of Odin" with the four swords. This symbolises for me the battle. I liked it so much that I have it now tattooed.

Tobias, Wolfenbüttel (Germany)
Tattoo 1.) What means this tattoo to you?
This tattoo means a lot to me. For one thing it will always remember me at the best time of my life. When I’ll be old, I will look at this tattoo and it will remind me at all the great men, I met.
For another thing it’s a symbol for beeing part of one of the biggest heavy metal fan-groups.

2.) When was it made?
I get this tattoo in april 2007. It was really exciting, because it was my first tattoo. But for sure it won’t be the last one.

3.) Are you still happy with it?
I’m still pleased with the tattoo. I didn’t have choose this, if I hadn’t been sure.

4.) What are the reactions of people surrounding you?
Well, this is different. But I can say:

The reaction of an manowar-fan: “Yeah, great, you’ve got the sign! Hail and kill, brother!”

The reaction of an NOT-manowar-fans: “oooh my god, you’ve got the sign of this sissys cut into your arm???? You have to be waky! They just rip theire fans off!”

The reaction of people, who aren’t into metal: “nice tattoo! What does it mean?”

So, everything is there. Positive and negative reactions. But someone who is for years a manowar-fan, should be good with this.

5.) Why this motive? Where did this idea come from?
Hmm…good question. I can’t really say it. But I think question 1 is a good answer for this. But when I’ve got the time, I will write a detailed history, why I choose this tattoo.

Unbekannt, Alzenau (Germany)
Tattoo 1.) What means this tattoo to you?
Freedom and of course Manowar.

2.) When was it made?
1995

3.) Are you still happy with it?
Yes

4.) What are the reactions of people surrounding you?
I'm not interested about that. But my friends think that it is great.

5.) Why this motive? Where did this idea come from?
Because Scott has it on his arm. Above Valhalla, an eagly flies his rounds above the gate where the Einherjar come in. And I guess the swords speaks for itself.

Alex, Copiapo (Chile)
Tattoo 1.) What means this tattoo to you?
This tattoo means a lot to me, it’s like a religious symbol.
Because I’m listening to Manowar since I was 13, and now I’m 22, it is a symbol of heavy metal! Manowar are the best, it’s a way of life!

2.) When was it made?
In fact there are two tattoos: I’ve got the sign of the hammer since 3 years and the Triumph of Steel was made this year in February.

3.) Are you still happy with it?
I’m more than content with this tattoo. Now I’m marked for the rest of my life, and it pleased me so much, I would never regret it.

4.) What are the reactions of people surrounding you?
People on the road often take a look at it and friends of mine are very impressed how detailed the tattoo is made, because If you look from close to it, you can see every small thing. It is just a great work!

5.) Why this motive? Where did this idea come from?
I was animated because Manowar is my favourite band and I wanted to be marked by heavy metal.
Marked for the life and Manowar is my life.
The idea came after making the Sign of the Hammer, because it didn’t please me so much, it was a little bit small. So I decided to take also the Triumpf of Steel, because this is my favourite album…

1.)What means this tattoo to you?
Let's go from the beginning...

The first tattoo I had done was the Sign Of The Hammer with the script: "FIRE BURNING TO THE SKY - MY SPIRIT WILL NEVER DIE". It was my first Manowar tattoo (and my first tattoo at all), and the flame of heavy metal was already burning strong in me. The Hammer of Thor is the symbol of our strenght and courage, the symbol of us, the brothers of metal. It is what keeps us unite and gives us the power to fight every day against the world. Apart from that, it has also a religious meaning for me, for I am Odinist.

The script, taken from "Swords In The Wind", means that anything can happen, I can die, but my spirit will live on for ever. This means that we all got inside the greatest power in the universe: our soul, which can even live after death.

The second tattoo was the broken chain. It is of course a symbol of freedom, the real freedom, which for me is to have my mind free from prejudices given by our time so that I can think by myself with my own mind, freedom to have the guts to conquer everything I want in my life. Freedom is also to be true and to live in truth. And to break the chains which keep us tied to the ground we need a great power that we, brothers of metal, know well.

The script "For All My Brothers" on the wrist is a tribute to the brothers of the Italian Army Of Immortals, the greatest people on this earth, the greatest and dearest brothers I've ever known, people who know what real friendship means.

My third and last tattoo, the eagle on my chest, is another symbol of freedom, but has a more personal meaning.

My great brother Scott, who I think you all saw on the ABSOLUTE POWER dvd, his son turned on Joey DeMaio's bike, once said to me "Broddy you are an eagle, because you live free, you cannot be caged, you keep on fighting and breaking all of your chains until you conquer what you want to."

This sentence is now tattoed on my very heart, for It really impressed me for its truth, and from that day it has been a great source of power for me.

2.) When was it made?
The Sign Of The Hammer was done in November 2002, the chain in Summer 2004, and the eagle in Summer 2006

3.) Are you still happy with it?
Absolutely! Well, they are now a bit uncolored in some places, but it's normal for any tattoo.

4.) What are the reactions of people surrounding you?
How did you react when you saw it on the DVD? :P

After the DVD was released I received a lot of congrats, and this made me even prouder of having it tattoed: seeing my tattoo chosen by Joey to be on that DVD was one of the greatest satisfactions!!!

Answering to the very question...well, you know how the world is, filled with falseness and prejudices. The Sign Of The Hammer has often be mistaken for a nazi or fascist symbol, but the other two, the chain and the eagle did not cause such disapproving reactions.

Anyway, this didn't give me particular problems, and anytime someone broke my balls I just told him to fuck off! I got the guts to carry on my skin what I believe in, and those who criticise me don't have them, so they have to shut up!!

5.)Why this motive? Where did this idea come from?
I think I already answered to this in the first question.

Benno, Handorf (Germany)
Tattoo 1)What means this tattoo to you?
This tattoo differs me from the other people, it reminds me in what I believe, for what I stand, what a great time I had thanks to ManOwaR so far and will have in the future!

2) When was it made?
Dezember 2004

3) Are you still happy with it?
Maybe I should have made it bigger, but I have no regrets about it and I'm still happy with it ;-)

4) What are the reactions of people surrounding you?
Very mixed reactions... I guess its the same for all tattoos. The one says 'WOW great motive', 'good work' and so on, the other already thinks that tattoos are disgusting, or asks why the hell Manowar!? But somehow this all acknowledges me! Fuck The World ;-)

5)Why this motive? Where did this idea come from?
At the beginning I only had the idea for the writing with the Hammer beneath, but my tattooer had then the idea with the fire, that comes off the Hammer and so we deceided for that motive with the fire that also is on the cover of Kings Of Metal. The Into Glory Ride writing was made about 2 years later, after I finished my school. 1. It is my favourite album and I think that the title express what Manowar stands for. Everybody has his own fight, whether with his/her boy/girl-friend, in the job or in school or with the car machinist that tries to cheat you again. You shouldn't shun the fight. INTO GLORY RIDE

Tattoo 1)What means this tattoo to you?
A lot because this band changed my life and for mit this tattoo is something like s symbol. I also want to take a look at the tattoo in many years and be able to say that this was a fucking great time in my life. It is a symbol for a chapter in my life that still is not over.

2) When was it made?
On the 29th June 2006 at 14.30 in the Tattoo Garage Nuremberg

3) Are you still happy with it?
Well ... yes ^^

4) What are the reactions of people surrounding you?
Many admire this decision to immortalize a band on my body, many say it's stupid to get a band tattooed, but almost all thinks that the tattoo is a good work from the artistic point of view.

5)Why this motive? Where did this idea come from?
The ManOwaR writing was clear, the idea for the sword came in a time when I listened a lot to "Sword in the Wind" and "Power of thy Sword". Nothing more to say.

Tattoo 1)What means this tattoo to you?
It's like a stigmatisation for me, a way to show that you're a member of this "group". I had the sense that I evolve from a normal Manowar listener to a real fan, and with this tattoo I wanted to prove this to myself. It's also a kind of "self reflection". I'm getting the Sign tattooed because I am a Manowar fan, and because I made this step, I constrain myself to stay on this path, otherwise I would have the logo of band on my arm that I don't like. The line "Stand and Fight" has a special meaning for me. This has become a life motto for me my now. Don't give up, keep on fighting, finish what you've started. No matter if its in work or in your private life.

2) When was it made?
The Sign in March 2006 and the rest was added in March 2007.

3) Are you still happy with it?
I'm very happy with it, above all it is now finally complete.

4) What are the reactions of people surrounding you?
Some think it's overacted to fix in that way to one band, but the bigger part likes it and even don't recognise that it's a Manowar Tattoo. :-)

5)Why this motive? Where did this idea come from?
The Sign was always something special to me, so it was clear for me that it should be a part of my tattoo. Fans immediately know what it means and people that don't know Manowar or only a bit haven't seen the symbol so far. It's a way of avowing oneself to Manowar without the simple writing. The little Sign was not enough for me, and I wanted to have something that sets it apart from other Signs. Afer many failures I had the brilliant idea how I could upgrade it worthy and started to work on the artwork for it, that was completed by my tattooer. Originally O wanted to have the Manowar writing above, but at the end my stupid shoulder was to small for it :-)

Tattoo 1)What means this tattoo to you?
This tattoo has principally two meanings for me, because it is a combination of two motives. On the one hand the Sign Of The Hammer, that is for me a tribute to Manowar (sure). Because Manowar as musicians are one of my absolute favourite bands. Also because they brought me to the rock/metal music in general and I will always be thankfull for that. The second motive is the banner of Thulsadoom. Thulsadoom is the evil sorcerer in "Conan the Barbarian" and I use this as a nickname for a long time in the internet. Respectively I also think that it looks awesome. The line "Keep The Faith" should always remind me that I should never lose the faith. The faith in everything that is worth to believe in. Everybody must decide this oneself. ;-)

2) When was it made?
I guess it was July 2006.

3) Are you still happy with it?
Yes, I'm still happy with it, and I think that I always will be. Even if Manowar plays teenie pop one day one day. This tattoo has a deeper meaning for me than just "Manowar is great". Also in many years it will remind me on a great time in that I met a lot of new friends (brothers and sisters).

4) What are the reactions of people surrounding you?
Most people don't pay attention to it. So far nobody knew that it is for Manowar (except from my Brothers and Sisters from the German Defenders Of Steel). Some say just "great tattoo". Others say "it looks kind of fascistic". Mixed reactions.

5)Why this motive? Where did this idea come from?
I had the idea of the sign for a long time, because I really think that it looks great. But in the beginning I was very sceptic about it because so many fans have the sign tattooed. A rethink happened because of the movie "Tombstone" (I will explain that :-D ). The evil guys in this movie are a group of gangsters that call themselves Outlaws. As a trademark all of them have a red bandana (not only on the neck). Everybody that sees this know that they are part of the gang and are frightened of them. And then I thought.. The Sign is also a kind of trademark for the Manowarriors. You instantly know that this must be somebody that thinks like I do. But I didn't want only the simple standard sign, so I added the field sign of Thulsadoom from the conan movies, because I like this movies (and the conan character that Howard created in general) and I use this as nick for many years in the internet.
